The number of samples required depends on the material type, its homogeneity, and the area covered. For homogeneous materials like a ceiling or flooring, we typically recommend at least 2-3 samples to ensure accurate representation. For varied materials or multiple suspect areas, each distinct material or area should be sampled separately. Our technicians will assess your specific situation and recommend an appropriate sampling strategy that balances thoroughness with cost-effectiveness.

In most cases, it's perfectly safe to remain in your property during sample collection. Our technicians use controlled methods that minimize fiber release, including localized enclosures, dust suppression techniques, and careful extraction methods. We may ask you to temporarily vacate the immediate area being sampled, but full property evacuation is rarely necessary. For commercial properties, normal operations can usually continue in areas not being sampled.

Our standard laboratory service provides results within 24-48 hours after samples arrive at our laboratory. For time-sensitive situations, we offer an express service with results available within 4-6 hours and same-day reporting. The turnaround time begins once samples reach our laboratory, so for the fastest results, we recommend our combined sampling and analysis service where our technicians collect and immediately transport samples to the laboratory.

Our comprehensive test reports include sample identification details, testing methodology, whether asbestos was detected in each sample, the specific asbestos types identified (Chrysotile, Amosite, Crocidolite, etc.), and approximate content percentages. Reports also include the laboratory's UKAS accreditation details, analyst credentials, and recommendations for appropriate management based on the results. We provide the reports in both digital format and hard copy if required.
