Asbestos Collection & Disposal

While homeowners can legally remove small amounts of certain asbestos materials from their own properties, the disposal process is strictly regulated. You must never place asbestos in general waste or skip hire not specifically designated for asbestos. All asbestos waste must be properly packaged in UN-approved containers and transported by licensed waste carriers to authorized disposal facilities. Asbestos waste must be double-bagged in heavy-duty polythene bags with a minimum thickness of 400 gauge (0.1mm). These bags must be clearly labeled with asbestos warning symbols and text. For larger pieces, such as asbestos cement sheets, they should be wrapped in two layers of heavy-duty polythene sheeting and sealed with tape. We supply appropriate UN-approved packaging for all asbestos waste types, and our collection teams are trained to verify that all waste is properly contained before transportation.

Asbestos disposal requires specific documentation under the Hazardous Waste Regulations. For most disposals, a Hazardous Waste Consignment Note must be completed, which includes details of the waste producer, carrier, disposal site, and waste description including the appropriate European Waste Catalogue (EWC) code. Our service includes the preparation of all required documentation, and we provide copies for your records. This documentation should be retained for at least 3 years as proof of legal disposal.

For larger projects requiring skips, we recommend booking at least 3-5 days in advance to ensure availability, though we can sometimes accommodate shorter timeframes.
